Our devices are integrated into the PopCheck® digital platform which is tailored specifically for post-operative care and alerts the patient’s healthcare team of real time changes in their risk profile, facilitating earlier diagnosis to eliminate delays in care.
During medical training, our Founder and CEO, Dr. Erika Dillard, co-led a study to better
understand inpatient care
factors affecting the quality of care and patient safety in the management of venous clots in high-risk patients such
as spinal cord injuries. She noticed how management varied across medical specialties and levels of care,
manifesting along the care continuum from risk assessment to long-term surveillance. For post-operative patients, this
extended beyond inpatient care into the outpatient setting and often led to inconsistencies in patient outcomes. As a result, Dr. Dillard began to consider strategies that addressed this issue going beyond the application of more stringent inpatient clinical protocols and looked toward technological advancements for a solution that could be incorporated across the care continuum and in diverse care settings. While completing a postdoctoral fellowship at the University of Memphis (Patents 2 Products), Dr. Dillard was provided critical resources and guidance for taking this concept from an idea to market. By identifying an unmet need within the clinical setting, including the pain points and workarounds that often led to negative outcomes, PopCheck Technologies® was born.
